Proactive Disclosure

Proactive Disclosure Requirements

Rights & Democracy is committed to economy, transparency, and the highest ethical standards in financial administration.

In December 2003, the Treasury Board of Canada announced a new policy on the mandatory publication of the travel and hospitality expenses of senior executives. Although Rights & Democracy is not subject to this policy, this Web site provides information on the expenses incurred by its President. Every three months, we will disclose his travel expenses incurred in the previous quarter.

Please note that information that would normally be withheld under the Privacy Act does not appear on this Web site.

The majority of travel expenses incurred by Rights & Democracy serve directly the accomplishment of our mission. Our head Office is located in Montreal, and our work with Foreign Affairs, CIDA and other governmental authorities requires many trips to Ottawa. The President needs to travel all over the world, in particular to developing countries where we intervene in order to meet partners or to participate in various events. He also attends, occasionally, the UN Human Rights Council’s sessions in Geneva, Switzerland.

Travel expenses for the President paid directly by other organizations are not included in these disclosures. Travel expenses paid for by Rights & Democracy that are recovered from other organizations are indicated as such.
